Visual Remix

Rinse, swirl, repeat

Yes, Some Space Gallery is tucked inside a frame shop. But though many frame shops around town like to show art, this place is unusual, as it often shows great art. The still-new space might just provide a few of the more established galleries a bit of healthy competition. While you’re here checking out Harold Hollingsworth’s playful, many-layered oil paintings, take a peek at what’s on the work tables, too, as Some Space’s framers handle some of the best pieces in town. In the current exhibit, titled ”Re/

Mixes,” Hollingsworth’s new work revisits and reconfigures ideas he’s been ruminating on for years. In Squalor, his concentric rounds of black, white, and gray populate a richly textured field of orange. Monochrome ellipses bump against each other, reading like busy cell multiplication.
