Crawlspace

New poetry, a CD, and a stiff cocktail

The first time C.E. Putnam and Daniel Comiskey performed their collaborative work Crawlspace, it may have been the best reading I’d been to in Seattle. Despite a hike to a second venue (the first had no heat) and subsequent floor-only seating in a crowded wine shop on 15th (don’t tell anyone), these two highly skilled wordsmiths gave a very memorable performance, trading lines in an easygoing dialogue. Now longtime “Subtext” member Putnam teams up with Comiskey, former co-editor of the literary magazine Monkey Puzzle, for a redux of their ultra-listenable performance, celebrating the release of their new book/CD package. I know poetry may not be the easiest thing to sit still for, but these guys craft playful, highly listenable work. Unlike last time, tonight’s reading promises the luxury of comfy chairs and the possibility of a stiff cocktail.
