mouth OPEN TEETH showing

Visual Art

Tonight’s opening celebrates a new exhibit of work from Bill and Ruth True’s fantastic collection of contemporary video and installation work, including the stateside debut of Doug Aitken’s video installation i am in you. Also on view are works by the sensual, politically-charged installationist Ann Hamilton, well-known video artist Gary Hill, and a collection of carefully ordered, found dolls by Zoe Leonard (seen not so long ago occupying the main gallery at Western Bridge). These 162 dolls, in varying states of undress, with mussed hair and missing limbs, stand at attention in a creepily compelling way. Once beloved toys, here they stare accusingly at us. For forgetting about them, maybe? This show promises to be a great one, and the Henry always throws a great party.
