Winner, winner! Chicken dinner!Today’s Comment of the Day goes to a reader who is likely not the first person to use Alabama as a benchmark for perceived xenophobia. The story concerns a push by immigrant-rights advocates and Seattle City Councilmember Tim Burgess to create a new city department designed specifically to help new foreign immigrants and refugees to assimilate into life in Seattle.wadegraham writes:Just because some states want to set the clock back 60 years (I’m looking at you Alabama), doesn’t mean Seattle has to. This sounds like a common sense approach to making government efficient and effective at welcoming and dealing with immigrants. Bravo city council!
