?Have-a-Heart CC, a medical marijuana collective on Aurora Avenue in north Seattle, has a good selection of cannabis-infused edibles — everything from medicated almonds to bonbons, chocolates, caramels, peanut brittle, cookies, peanut butter cups, candy bars, and suckers. But the brace of chocolate turtles drew my eye immediately, even in that well-populated medibles case, with their fetching symmetry.I wavered between the bonbons and the turtles, but price made the decision for me; the bonbons were $10, while the pair of turtles was only $7.Since there conceivably might be someone, somewhere who’s never had a chocolate turtle, I’ll briefly explain that they are delicious little conglomerations of caramel, chocolate, and pecans — the very essence of chewy sweetness.?Friendly and knowledgeable budtender Cole responsibly advised trying only one of the turtles and waiting 45 to 60 minutes to gauge the effects before deciding whether to have the other one. While that is good advice and should undoubtedly be taken by many patients, I bypassed the waiting period and consumed both candies at one setting.Any slight doubt I’d entertained upon seeing cannabis not listed in the ingredients was quickly dispelled as soon as I’d taken a bite. The turtles, separately from being quite delicious, also tasted of cannabis (a good thing, as far as I’m concerned), as well as sporting a slight greenish tinge on the inside. One bite was enough to convince me of their authenticity and potency, and this impression was confirmed when the effects settled in a little less than an hour later.Another thing not on the label was a name for the manufacturer. The label did sport a “green thumb” logo, and to its eternal credit, a cooking date for freshness.Having the two turtles reminded me of grammar-school fund drives where the entire class would sell boxes of these chewy chocolates, mostly to ourselves. That’s probably because I hadn’t had one since fifth grade, and the cannabinated versions held up well, taste-wise, against my memory of the ones from almost 40 years ago.In the absence of any name or contact info for the talented person who made these treats, I can only tell you that I found them at Have-a-Heart CC, 11736 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle.
