Significantly less-crazy Quaid family member Dennis Quaid wrote an unsolicited account for Newsweek on Sunday about how much coke he used to do. It’s a brief but revealing look at how, back in the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, blow was “petty cash” and “cocaine was even in the budgets of movies.” Quaid did a shit-ton of the stuff, and is frank about how the addiction was his “biggest mistake.” So with Dennis getting all kinds of personal with his drug-addiction history, what’s one topic of conversation that could still make him blush? Try his feelings on his “refugee” brother Randy. As we know, Randy Quaid and his wife Evi are currently in Vancouver, B.C., having convinced the Canadian government to grant them refugee status, because they fear the “Hollywood star whackers” they say are responsible for killing other celebs like Heath Ledger, David Carradine, Michael Jackson, and Chris Penn.A far more sinister threat to Randy and Evi, of course, are the bench warrants for skipping bail on burglary and fraud charges that await them should they ever set foot on Yankee soil again. But back to Dennis. Shortly after penning his Newsweek column, the actor (who stars in the new film Soul Surfer) talked to People in a story headlined “Dennis Quaid Opens Up About Troubled Brother Randy,” in which he doesn’t open up at all.On the contrary, he clams up, saying only:”I love my brother,” Dennis told PEOPLE recently while promoting his film at L.A.’s Luxe Hotel. “That’s all I can say. I love my brother and I miss my brother. That’s all I’m going to say.” So it looks like the only thing going on in Dennis’ life that’s more embarrassing than the avalanche of cocaine that went up his nose is still his brother Randy.Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
