Sad news from the art world: Cheap to Feed, the absurd/discomfiting/endearing Maurizio Cattelan sculpture/installation at the new Seattle Art Museum was vandalized this week and is now in the conservation studio. Cheap, otherwise known as Cattelan’s taxidermied dog, was the subject of a recent appreciation by our John Metcalfe, who encouraged viewers–TONGUE IN CHEEK–to play a bit with the little doggie. We’re confident that no Weekly readers were involved in this particular assault; still, we feel badly for encouraging irresponsible museum-going behavior. Assuming Cheap returns to his perch, please leave the little guy alone.
