I mean the breasts … the breasts can help get people thinking about Hanford, and specifically a protest of contamination at the site scheduled for April 15 in Richland, Wash.According to Portland’s Willamette Week, Occupy Portland protestors took to the streets yesterday, and took off their tops, in an effort to get the word out about the coming protest. Eight women and three men, all with bare chests, distributed flyers and waved at cars. Willamette Week’s account indicates some of the bare chests were adorned with “painted multicolored radiation symbols,” while one woman had the appropriate statement, “Everyone is Naked to Radiation” written on her bare back. Others wore gas masks. The effort went down during afternoon rush hour at the corner of Southwest Fifth Avenue and Taylor Street in downtown Portland.From the Willamette Week:A few people stood on the steps of the Standard Insurance Center across Southwest Fifth Avenue to watch the event began–and then wandered off. Some people standing at bus stops averted their gaze. The building’s security guards didn’t even budge when the group clambered up the steps to pose briefly in front of a statue–which happens to feature three naked people in a fountain.
