Last Saturday, Sol, the Seattle rhyme-sayer with professorial flair, took top honors in the third round of semi-final competition for EMP/SFM’s 8th annual Sound Off! The win at the contest for Northwest artists age 21 and under earned the promising young MC a spot in the finals, scheduled for Sat., March 6. The winner of the whole shebang gets a performance slot at Bumbershoot ’09, among other goodies. Sol will be competing against three other under-agers spanning a range of genres, all of whom save for one wildcard nabbed first place at three battle-of-the-bands-style semi-final showdowns that began February 14 and ended on the 28th.
