It’s not exactly like Seattle is short on vegetarian restaurants. It’s not like the area is even short on good ones (which is the case with so many other cities). But those of you who live or work in the Rainier Valley and consider yourselves friendly with the vegetable kingdom now have even more reason to rejoice because St. Dames, the new vegetarian restaurant owned by Amy Weems and Sarah Murphy, is open for business.Actually, it’s been open for business for about two weeks now, operating quietly and in soft-open mode after navigating all the legal and licensing hurdles (which are talked about quite openly on the St. Dames Facebook page). But tomorrow at 5pm marks the start of their official two-day grand opening weekend at 4525 MLK Way South, with happy hour specials and prices that’ll run straight through Sunday at 1am.Yes, that’s right: 1am. The way things look right now, the one thing St. Dames might have over many of the other vegetarian restaurants in the area is that it’ll be keeping hours long after the sun goes down–’til 10pm on weekdays and midnight on the weekends.
