An afternoon of wine tasting sounds like an excellent idea for a date. Unfortunately, it could end up more embarrassing than fun if one (or both?) of you realizes you have no idea what you’re doing. The pressures of trying to remember if it’s sip, swirl, spit or swirl, sniff, gulp will be eased when you take your sweetie to The Corson Building’s Wine Workshop II, The Mechanics of Wine Tasting, led by sommelier Marc Papineau. The two of you will learn the ins and outs of wine tasting and all the confusing vocabulary that goes along with it. Sample a riesling, pinot noir, chardonnay, syrah, late harvest white, and port while enjoying some light snacks. Afterward, you’ll be able to purchase the wines you’ve tried at a discount, which you can then use to practice your newfound knowledge someplace a little more private. $50 per person. 2-4 p.m. Sun., March 22.Find great date ideas like this plus restaurant gossip and local food events in our Big Bites e-newsletter.
