Domino

Opens Fri., Oct. 14, at area theaters.

Based on a true story (well, sort of), Tony Scott’s Domino loosely recounts the life story of model-turned-bounty-hunter Domino Harvey (daughter of the late actor Laurence Harvey). The “sort of” aspect of this true story omits the fact that the real Domino was a drug addict and dealer, who just died of an overdose in her bathtub at the ripe age of 36.

Keira Knightley is one-dimensional and miscast as Domino, and Mickey Rourke doesn’t help much as her badass boss. From that starting point, where could this film possibly go right? It’s rambling without any sense of direction—or at least none that I could discern. With its exhausting two-hour run time, Domino manages to bore and excite at the same time. Although the excitement is pretty much reserved for the boys in the audience.

Action sequences are riddled with T&A, and we see Domino whore out her body more than twice. A certain fetish demographic may enjoy all Scott’s shots of Knightley endlessly smoking cigarettes. The only thing the movie will conjure for its core audience, teenage boys, is a boner. (R)
