Sixty kinds of beer, only four hours to drink

From dark and chocolaty to pale and hoppy, everyone’s got their favorite pint. The Ninth Annual Washington Cask Beer Festival offers you more beer than you can possibly taste, with cask-aged wares from small and large brewers across the state. Highlights include a reserve 9 lb. Porter from Georgetown Brewing Co.; Bootlegger Bosun’s from Ballard’s Maritime Pacific Brewing Co. (the bosun is the person aboard a sailboat who manages the mast, rigging, and sails); and, from a local purveyor known for its superstrong brew, Elysian’s Konishiki Imperial IPA, named for the U.S.-born Japanese sumo grand champion. If your role happens to be designated driver, admission without tastings is only $5. If, on the other hand, you happen to be a card-carrying WABL (pronounced wobble, as many a Washington beer lover might demonstrate), you’ll get the chance to taste a WABL-only beer brewed exclusively for this event, out of your own special glass. Seriously. Seattle Center, Fisher Pavilion, $35–$40 includes tasting cup and all tastings. Noon–4 p.m. and 6–10 p.m. (separate tickets required for each session).
