Board Game Night

Uno you want to

As Sunday night rolls around, likely grey, dark, and wet, you might need a nudge to venture out of the house. Consider visiting the cozy BottleNeck Lounge on Madison for a low-key bar sport: board gaming. “We will have Uno, Scrabble, Battleship, chess, checkers, and Apples to Apples on hand,” proprietor Erin Nestor explains, “but folks can also bring their own games if they’d like.” [BoardGameGeek.com describes the last, least famous one: “Apples to Apples consists only of two decks of cards: Things and Descriptions. Each turn, the current referee selects a Description and players try to pick, from the cards in their hands, the Things that best match that Description…The unusual combinations of Things and Descriptions are humorous to the extreme, and will quickly have the entire room in an uproar.”] Be wary, for some gamers tend to get highly competitive over their plastic tokens and paper money. A little beer added never hurts. Drink up, get silly, and get strategic.
