Levator (CD release)

Friday, January 30

Tonight’s show celebrates Levator’s new record, The Biggest Waves Come At Night. It’s a psychedelic affair with lots of tenor sax and howling vocals– and it’s pretty obvious that the band’s into Pink Floyd, even if you couldn’t find that out from reading their MySpace profile. Not that it’s derivative, but the echoing vocal swells on TBWCAN track “Bruises” are decidedly Floydian. Their music is similar to fellow local purveyors of celestial post-rock distortions Hypatia Lake and Panda & Angel…now there’s a bill I’d like to see happen in the near future.
