West Seattle Blog is at City Hall today for the Council session

West Seattle Blog is at City Hall today for the Council session and reports that it looks like the city is more than $40 million short on its budget. What will that mean? The last time the budget was short, in November, the city cut, among other things, new housing for the homeless, roads projects, cameras in parks, uniforms for new police officers, driving-with-a-suspended-license-prosecutions, and over $1 million from its youth violence prevention initiative.WSB says city finance director Dwight Dively will give a full briefing to the Council shortly (they’re adjourned right now, as the elevator music on the Seattle Channel will attest, but a “special meeting” of the Budget Committee is coming up next). Wonkish types or those potentially facing funding cuts can follow the action online or on channel 21.
