With both Russell Branyan and Mike Sweeney nursing injuries, an already-bleak situation at first base just got bleaker with the pulled hamstring of Ronny Cedeno. Jose Lopez, a somewhat experienced first sacker, now has to move back to his natural second base to take Cedeno’s place, while third-string catcher Jamie Burke will try his hand at holding on runners. Yikes, is all we can say.
