UPDATE: The medical examiner says Clark’s body showed no signs of trauma.Western Washington’s Dwight Clark was leaving a party and headed for his dorm around 2 a.m. two Sundays ago when he disappeared. Clark hasn’t been seen since. But investigators now have their first real clue.At first it appeared as if Clark had vanished without a trace. His credit cards hadn’t been used. And despite sending 6,000 text messages last month, no one had heard a peep from his phone.Dwight Clark hasn’t been seen for over a week. But now cell phone records show that Clark did send a message that night. Or, at least, someone using his phone did.Roughly 40 minutes after the 6’2, 160-pound freshman was last seen, his phone sent a blank text message that police have traced to downtown Bellingham, which they’re now canvassing to see if anyone spotted Clark that night.Clark was an honors student at the Auburn high school where he graduated. And unlike most runaways, he didn’t seem to struggle with drinking, drugs or depression. The reward for helping ensure his safe return is nearing $17,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bellingham Police Detective Gina Crosswhite at (360)788-8835.UPDATE: A witness saw a man walked up to the poster and write on it that Clark had been stabbed to death. When the witness asked the man why he was writing that, she says he told her “because that’s what happened.” Then he drove off.Obviously the guy could just be a kook. But because police don’t seem to have a ton of leads in the case, they say they’re doing all the can to try and track the man down.UPDATE: A contractor working on a boat in found Clark’s body in a lagoon near the Bellingham waterfront.Police say it appears as if Clark was in the water for a few days as his body is badly decomposed. Now Clark’s family and friends have to wait for a medical examiner to determine how he died.UPDATE: Whatcom County medical examiner Gary Goldfogel says there was no sign of foul play and that Clark’s death occurred in the water.
