Two enterprising Lacey crooks have gone on a burglary spree stealing gumball machines. While a restaurant owner speculated that the gumball machines would be found on Ebay, they were instead found at the end of a cul-de-sac, busted open for the change inside of them.At first glance, it seems like a pretty inefficient form of thievery; after all, how much cash can a gumball machine carry? But triple-vending machines can contain up to $450 in quarters, while they retail for $139. And the nice thing about just going for the change is that you don’t have to move the product when you’re done–which is probably more important in a small town like Lacey. You just have to make sure you get them when they’re full–and then leave their bright, shattered remains in some unsuspecting cul-de-sac under cover of night.
