There aren’t many laws against being an asshole. That’s a good thing for Kevin Reyes, Christopher Anderson, and Rodney Alexander II, three Tukwila-area motorcyclists who are accused of cutting off Washington State Trooper Brian Salyer and sending his car into a roll before stopping and applauding sarcastically once his wrecked cruiser came to a rest.On Monday, the three pleaded not guilty to charges of reckless driving and attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle. Salyer likely would have liked to see them tarred and feathered, saying in recordings at the time that:”And I got all the bikes and they think it’s funny.”The incident happened on Aug. 10 when Salyer started pursuing the three for reckless driving on the 405 southbound and Interstate 5 northbound. During the pursuit, Salyer says they crossed the center line in front of him and he jammed on the brakes, which sent his car into a roll and left him injured inside. He called 911 from the police car, while, he says, the three road warriors stood outside his car, applauding and laughing.Turns out that while eluding an officer and driving like a prick are both crimes, being a massive douchebag outside a hurt man’s car is not. Prosecutors say the closest crime they could be charged with other than the driving violations might be failure to render medical aid, but since Salyer had already called paramedics, they’d likely be off the hook for that. As funny as the three may have thought that turn of events was, karma now says that the next time one of them swerves to miss an old lady in the road and paints his face across the asphalt, that lady is just going to steal his wallet and fart on his head.
