There are 16 letters in the words “Do Not Resuscitate.” Assuming he spelled it correctly, Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies say 54-year-old Nathaniel Simon carved each one of those letters into his girlfriend’s chest with a razor, after choking her nearly to death. The abuse supposedly happened on March 25 at the couple’s shared home in the tiny town of Albion, north of Pullman, but the 46-year-old alleged victim never reported it. Her family is said to have finally told police about the incident on Tuesday. The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that the woman said it all started Saturday when Simon choked her to point of blacking out. When she woke up, she told police that her shirt was covered in blood and she saw the “Do Not Resuscitate” message scrawled crimson in her flesh. She would have told police sooner, she said, but her boyfriend supposedly threatened to kill her and then himself if she did.But after escaping the home after her family informed police, Simon was arrested and charged with assault, unlawful imprisonment, and threatening to kill. He’s currently being held on $500,000 bail.Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
