The Sonics Guy sips a brew at a free beer night investor Chris Hansen held in Pioneer Square to celebrate King County’s support for a new basketball arena in SoDo.Kyle HoukThe Kings’ march to Seattle has taken a giant leap today with a wide swath of news reports that a deal between Chris Hansen and Steve Ballmer and the Kings’ owners is sealed.ESPN.com reports that the deal would give the investment group headed by Hansen and Baller a 65 percent share of the team.Upon the reports, Mayor Mike McGinn issued a statement of congratulations:”This is an exciting day for our city and for Sonics fans everywhere. I congratulate Chris Hansen and his investment team. While there is more work ahead, this is a major step toward bringing the Sonics home.”The sale must still be approved by the NBA, and Sacramento’s mayor Kevin Johnson will still be able to plead his case for why his city should keep the team.
