Scout.com…he’ll be sitting on Garfield’s sidelines. Tony Wroten, Jr. is the nation’s top-ranked prep junior hoopster, after whom, you may recall, the Seattle Public Schools sent an investigator, in an attempt to prove that Wroten lived in Renton. Now he’s out for the year with a knee injury suffered while playing football. Missing one season because of a sport in another usually isn’t a big deal, but Wroten is a big deal–to the tune of a likely multi-million dollar pro contract in two years, as you can read in this excellent profile–so, transitive property being what it is, this injury is a big deal as well. Wroten tore his anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, an injury that was once a death sentence for basketball players, but that has become much easier to recover from with advances in surgery. May this just be a bump on the road to a brilliant and lucrative career. And may he choose to spend his year of college ball at Montlake.
