Perhaps there is hope after all. The Secretary of State’s office kept counting signatures on R-71 petitions yesterday–the petitions to put on the ballot a measure that would roll back gay partnership rights (driven by the “areas [where] you can’t see the Space Needle”)–and the error rate remained low, at 12.34%. But that’s higher than it was on Friday. And, that error rate is likely to keep climbing, says Horse’s Ass’ Goldy. He points out that early error rates are typically lower because, the earlier you are in the counting process, the less likely you are to have found the duplicates that lower the percentage of valid signatures. Conversely, the bigger the sample size, the higher the rate of duplicates. So take heart, people–things may not be as bad as they look.
