Nice work, SeattleKing County just sent its daily election results update, and the return of ballots has slowed considerably. Today’s count covered just 2,770 mailed ballots (of over 338,000 total)–and only 101 of them were from Seattle. Thus, we see no meaningful changes–Mike McGinn maintained his lead, as did Susan Hutchison hers. (It looks like her margin of victory over Dow Constantine in the primary will be a little over 6%–or, as she put it, a “landslide.”) It is worth noting, however, that for all the pre-election hand-wringing about Seattle’s low turnout, it wasn’t as bad as predicted. Going in, King County Elections was projecting 35% turnout for the city; after today’s trickle, we’re up to a whopping 37.73%. So pat yourselves on the back, Seattle voters. It was the first all-mail election, and you put your stamp on it! (Rimshot!)
