king5.comIn the wake of beatdowns, people getting shot in the head, people getting shot in the neck and bars getting shut down for violence, two 22-year-old men were shot Sunday morning at around 2:00 a.m.Police say that a man walked into the street and fired seven or eight shots into a Dodge Charger that was waiting for a stop light on 1st Avenue and Denny Way, hitting the driver and a passenger. A third occupant of the Charger was unharmed.Investigators weren’t given a whole lot to work with at the scene except a vague visual description of the shooter (one witness described him as “a black male wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt) and that the car leaving the scene was “a Jeep or Explorer type SUV.”In a potentially related incident, a Jeep Cherokee was found crashed into a cement Monorail post at around 3:15 a.m., according to police. Witnesses say that four men fled the Jeep and climbed into another “SUV-type” vehicle. The post is fine, police say, but the Jeep sustained “significant damage” to one side. Police have found a handgun in the Jeep, but no suspects so far. Here’s hoping that Belltown sees some less… eventful weekends while the “Belltown crime initiative” (which police told KOMO is like “high profile babysitting”) tries to work.
