It’s common knowledge that when walking through Belltown, one should keep an eye on their wallet/purse/jewelry/clothes-on-their-back to make sure no one steals it, but apparently even the cigarette in your mouth isn’t safe. Muhammed Abdi, a 20-year-old from the area was arrested last night after supposedly attempting to bum a cigarette from a guy, then, when the guy said “no way,” putting a knife to his abdomen and taking the cig he was smoking. The incident happened late last night just before midnight on the 2100 Block of 1st Avenue.According to Seattle Police, the victim stepped outside a restaurant to smoke a stogie when Abdi approached him and asked for an extra one. The guy didn’t have have one and/or didn’t want to bum it out, so Abdi demanded the one he was smoking. Dude said “no” again, and that’s when the knife came out.The victim changed his mind at that point and gave him the cigarette.Seattle Police found Abdi not far away and the alleged victim confirmed he was the guy who robbed him.Now Abdi’s in Jail. It’s too bad he doesn’t still have the cigarette, we hear those things are as good as cash behind bars.
