It hurt in 2005 when Airbus unveiled the 525-seat A380 and dethroned Boeing from claiming the largest passenger aircraft on earth. On Sunday, however, Boeing returned the favor with the introduction of the 747-8 Intercontinental. It may not hold more passengers, but it’s longer, cheaper, greener, and sexier than the A380. Check out some pics from Sunday’s launch party in Everett after the jump. The 747-8 Intercontinental is a modification of the 747-8 Freighter, with a larger upper cabin and a plethora of creature comforts. It’s 250 feet from tip to tail, 224 feet from wingtip to wingtip, and it’ll hold 467 passengers–all on what the company says will be the lowest seat/mile cost ratio in the industry. If you’re interested, a new 747-8 will set you back a cool $317.5 million–a bargain compared to the A380’s $375 million list price. We think it’s pretty.Xinhua/ReutersFlyertalkAP Photo/Seattlepi.com, Joshua TrujilloBoeingBoeing
