In Walla Walla, a 5-year-old boy was holding a .22 rifle when it accidentally discharged, shooting and killing his 1-year-old younger brother, little Dmitry Khomenko, while the two boys were rooting around in a backyard shed. Meanwhile in Clark County, three-year-old Ryan Owens accidentally shot himself in the head and later died at a hospital. Owens’ father, a Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy, had his service weapon safely secured, but couldn’t say the same for his personal hand gun. (Via)
