In case you’ve missed it, it’s been a rough few years for the newspaper industry, what with the rise of the Internet and all. In one more example of this, The Daily Herald is reporting that it will outsource home delivery to its Everett subscribers beginning October 1.Delivery of The Herald in Everett will be done by The Seattle Times, which has for nine months been delivering the smaller paper in southern Snohomish County. The Times won’t take over The Herald’s deliveries in Island and Skagit counties.”We will use our resources for circulation promotion and subscriber retention,” David Dadisman, general manager of The Herald, told

The Herald.This means that 17 full- and part-time workers will soon be no-time workers. According to The Herald’s story, the move also “affects 150 independent contractors currently delivering The Herald.” We’re not sure exactly what this means, but put a call in to The Herald’s executive editor, Neal Pattison, to find out.
