In a move sure to please animal rights-activists, people raised on Ratatouille, Cinderella, The Secret of NIMH, and the Mouse and the Motorcycle, and, of course, mice, PETA announced today that JP Morgan Chase will no longer be using “glue traps” for rodents in any of its branches–including the Wamu ones. Glue traps are strips of cardboard or plastic covered in an adhesive that ensnares animals that walk across it. The trapped animals chew off their limbs, sit in their own excrement, and endure other unpleasantness, sometimes taking several days to die. Because they can’t talk, no rodents were available for comment, but PETA punnily declared that the bank’s move “is worth a fortune.”
