If you work in one of Washington state’s three most iconic professions, there’s a good chance that you’re not reading this right now. Because you’re dead. The U.S. Census has just crunched the numbers for the deadliest professions in the country, and anglers, loggers, and aircraft pilots top the list.Anglers lead the pack with 116 deaths per 100,000 workers, followed by loggers with 91.9 and aircraft pilots and engineers with 70.6.Fortunately, Washington state’s other most iconic profession, tech worker, balances the scales; its principal dangers are carpal tunnel syndrome and coffee burns. While the tech industry isn’t measured specifically for deaths, “office and administrative support” workers are. And they’re at the bottom of the list, with 0.4 work-related deaths per 100,000 employees.Read the full, morbid data here. Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
