If you don’t feel like driving from Seattle to Vancouver, the train’s always a pretty good option, especially now that Amtrak’s running two a day in anticipation of the Winter Olympics. Still, it can be done by bus and foot, as Seattle Transit Blog’s Oran Viriyincy proved this March, going from Bothell to Vancouver in 9.5 hours, via eight bus rides and several miles of walking. Today, he recounts his journey. At eight dollars or so, with the bonus advantage of discount bus-station meals along the way, it’s a lot cheaper than taking the train–if you don’t count time as money.
