Havana’s kicking off its outdoor movie series with a doozie tonight. Twenty years after its release, we get Spike Lee’s summer-swelter/racial-tension/pizzeria/Bed-Stuy masterpiece, Do the Right Thing. Sadly, it’s a week late for our record-setting heat, which would have increased the vicariousness of the experience. Still, the flick’s plenty powerful on its own. A little weird to ponder–Mookie and Radio Rahim (pictured left) would be borderline old men now, and Pino would be running the pizzeria, if there was one. Also, Bed-Stuy would look a lot different.$5, Havana parking lot, 1010 E. Pike. Doors at 8:00, show at 9:30. Lawnchairs will be provided, Via Tribunali will have a portable pizza oven going, and there’ll be a full bar, featuring tall boys of Miller High Life–Da Mayor’s beverage of choice.
