The world is not enough

The environment is not going to fix itself. Across the United States, community recycling and environmental awareness is slowly but surely catching on. This is more than can be said, though, for the global community. With all of the focus, money, and dedication that has gone into America’s environmental education, it has become glaringly obvious that our knowledge of how to institute grassroots environmental progress and basic natural upkeep needs to go global. Cascadia Quest, an organization that focuses on bringing youth from foreign countries to King County with the sole purpose of educating them on techniques for saving the planet, is an organization well worth your dollars. Cascadia Quest, in its own words, is “a nonprofit organization founded in 1993 to foster a commitment to environmental responsibility and global cooperation in young people of the world.” Let’s face it, older people are not going to save the world, the younger generations are. We’ve got to get as many young people enlisted in the enviro-movement as we possibly can. Go on, give a few dollars so that those wacky kids can get off their duffs and save the world . . . well, it’s worth it for them to try, anyhow! Cascadia Quest 810, 18th E, # B-5, 322-9296, Seattle 98122. You can also reach them via e-mail (casquest@cascadiaquest.org) or on the Web (www.cascadiaquest.org).
