Barack Obama, the 6’2″ powerhouse out of Columbia University, will be visiting Seattle on September 25, the White House just announced. Here’s hoping that that date being the Seahawks home opener against division rivals the Arizona Cardinals is no coincidence. This game, after all, will be Seattle fans’ first chance to see incoming quarterback Tarvaris Jackson play on his own home turf. But the Commander-in-Chief might in fact be the better choice in the pocket. Here’s why.Decision Making: If there’s one thing Tarvaris Jackson is criticized for (and there are many), it’s his poor decision-making, i.e., throwing interceptions. Obama, on the other hand, when he actually puts his mind to making a decision (health-care reform, killing Osama bin Laden, the Russian missile treaty, etc.), things tend to turn out better.Leadership: Jackson’s career with the Minnesota Vikings featured him showing none of the traits that made starting QB Brett Favre such a great leader. As Bleacher Report recently concluded, Jackson is “just a really neat lap dog.” The leader of the Free World, meanwhile, may have taken flack for not putting his neck out enough on things like the debt deal, gay rights, and gun control, but we think he could easily order a handful of large men around the football field.Vision: Jackson is oft-criticized for his lack of field vision. He often fails to see open receivers, and at times seems to have his passes planned before the ball is snapped. Obama, as a highly successful politician, is a master at seeing the big picture–pissing off certain overrated constituencies (Big Labor/Golden Tate) and making the call that wins the game, however ugly.Post-Game Press Conferences: Jackson’s post-game press conferences are filled with classic sports cliches about “executing” and “giving 110 percent.” Shoot me. Imagine, then, if the Hawks (even if only for a game) had one of history’s great orators to deliver analysis. “Can the Seahawks go .500 this season? Yes, we can!”Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
