Anyone who was trying to get to work in northwest Bellevue this morning likely had to deal with some righteous bullshit: roads closed, buildings on lockdown, K-9 units sniffing around. All because some dude armed with a common office supply decided to break into a bank office building. Bellevue Police Officer Carla Iafrate tells Seattle Weekly that a male in his 20s with a scruffy beard broke into the administration offices of Banner Bank by breaking a window and climbing in. Once inside, he confronted an employee with a pair of scissors he apparently thought passed as a weapon.But soon the suspect ran away. And perhaps remembering a lesson from kindergarten, he dropped the scissors so he wouldn’t poke his eye out.BPD officers now have the scissors, but still can’t find their guy. There are worries he may be still armed with paper-clip removers and possibly a letter opener.UPDATE: Sneaky McScissors has been caught! Bellevue PD says they found the guy around 1:30 this afternoon walking not far from where the crime occurred. He’s been booked on first-degree burglary charges, and more charges may follow.
