Virgin Islands’ new EP; cover art by Shay RothFor all of you who were bummed out about the Cops calling it quits, it may cheer you up to know that Mike “Jaws” Jaworski, who is one of the nicest, most unpretentious dudes in the Seattle music scene, has already begun recording with his new band, Virgin Islands. What does Virgin Islands’ music sound like? Well…it sounds like the Cops. Not exactly like the Cops, but close. We’re talking loud, fast and furious rock and roll made by people who’ve obviously graduated from the school of Strummer, so all you Cops fans won’t be disappointed. Don’t take my word for it, though; you can head to MySpace and listen to the band’s first four songs, which will be released sometime soon as an EP called The Age of Anxiety through Jaworski’s label, Mt. Fuji. Then, if you dig it, you can go see Virgin Islands at the Tractor Tavern on Wednesday, September 16 with the Drones, Eugene Wendall and the Demon Rind.
