Slack Fest, the overnight festival in Stanwood celebrating the lifestyle of KEXP’s

Slack Fest, the overnight festival in Stanwood celebrating the lifestyle of KEXP’s Swinging Doors host Don Slack, returns Saturday after a brief hiatus. The Slack lifestyle includes a steady diet of American rock ‘n’ roll, cheap beer, and an optimistic radio voice. For those going for the true replication, we called up Mr. Slack to fetch a few pointers. What beer is in your fridge right now?Well, you would find quite an assortment of beer in there: There’s some PBR, some Rainier, some Dogfish IPAs. And I think there’s some summer ale. You picked up PBR and Rainier?I think they must have shown up separately. What new music are you listening to these days?I love the Fucked Up album (David Comes to Life). That’s probably my favorite album of the year so far.Does it bother you the way your likeness and lifestyle are being used to sell tickets to an event featuring cheap beer, Tom Petty covers, and camping?Well, I think it’s more an exaggeration of that. It’s a character. What are the Slack Fest camping essentials?Well, you need a tent, sleeping bag, and some warm clothing, and perhaps a flask, for some internal warmth. Pretty basic.Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
