Our favorite British drama queen Lily Allen is playing at the Showbox tonight, but that shit’s been sold out for ages, and unfortunately for me and all the rest of you ticketless people, I have no idea who we’re going to have to blow to get in. Instead, you can go check out Acid Mothers Temple, a really righteous psychedelic rock band from Japan that incorporates Moroccan flutes and Persian rhythms and Spanish guitar, all of which sort of melts together in this furious melee…you know what, just go listen to them right now, because there’s no way I can translate this spaced-out sonic madness into words. Pictures, maybe, if they’re paisley pictures that pulsate in time to the music. But not words. I mean, “acid” is the first word of their band name. That should tell you all you need to know. Also, Kinski is opening for them, which is a nice boon, and Sonic Suicide Squad will be there as well. That’s at the Sunset Tavern, it begins at 9 p.m., and costs $10. I know, I know, you just blew the rest of your paycheck on beer this last weekend, but borrow some cash from a trust fund-having friend: it’ll be worth it.
