Magnolia Electric Co. photo courtesy Dylan YoungSome of you may be familiar with a gentleman named Jason Molina, who once performed under the moniker Songs: Ohia before starting Magnolia Electric Co. He’s currently working on a new album, if it’s not finished already. Which makes me really hope the Sasquatch line-up isn’t set in stone yet, because I’d love it if they came out this way on tour for the festival, since they didn’t see fit to visit the West Coast on their tour last fall. Chicago is not that far away, guys. Here’s the link to “Lonesome Valley,” as well as another new song by Jason Molina (not Magnolia Electric Co.) called “Get Out, Get Out, Get Out.” If you’re not at all familiar with Jason Molina, here’s a link to “Farewell Transmission,” one of my all-time favorite Molina numbers, not to mention one of my favorite songs of all time. It is from the 2003 Songs:Ohia album called Magnolia Electric Co, which was the last record Molina released as Songs: Ohia before he adopted that album’s name as his band’s name. I command you to listen to it and try to tell me it did not make your heart swell with joy.
