In the Pike Street pocket of rock bars, right across the street from Neumos, is Sole Repair. This back room lounge of Quinn’s gastropub is a private events space that gets rented out for art openings, receptions, fundraisers, fashion shows and, naturally, shows and DJ sets. It’s a little swankier, sure; event hosts shell out all the extra dollars for its posh vibe. And of course nothing says swanky and upscale quite like vitaminwater.Until July 26th, the shop is transformed into the vitaminwater social club, hosting events for the public in conjunction with the Vera Project, KEXP, Capitol Hill Block Party, 826 Seattle and numerous other organizations.Local hip-hop acts Macklemore and Sol play a free show this Thursday at 9 p.m. The show is preceded by The Vera Project’s Sound Essentials class at 5 p.m., where you can learn how to operate live sound, also free.Electro-pop duo Sap’N play the social club on July 9 at 8 p.m. to release their debut EP, produced by P Smoov of Mad Rad and Fresh Espresso. On vitaminwater social club’s website, they promise, “we’ll support local arts and youth organizations in the seattle area. (cuz that’s how we roll).” Thus far the events for the month are mostly Sassy Fit personal training events and tomorrow’s private Twilight Eclipse premier party. But July holds a fashion show of local independent designers, a Vera Project gallery opening and a local film showing.Still not sure what this means for Capitol Hill Block Party other than convenient vitaminwater marketing right by Pike Street, given that this residency of sorts goes just barely through that weekend.
