Fresh from one of the best hip-hop releases to grace Seattle thus far in 2011, Adventures in Helluvastate–and further solidifying the link between two of Seattle’s most exciting hip-hop crews in Members Only and Cloud Nice–the visuals for Helluvastate’s “Brain Champagne” are just as impressive.Filmed by Stephan Gray, Thadwick Tristen Trevor lll (aka State of the Artist’s TH) and Swan Coltrane (aka Helladope’s Tay Sean) can be seen riding ’round town in the super-clean cutlass chauffeured by Cloud Nice’s Jarv Dee and blowing trees like there’s no tomorrow. Like Swan says, “All I wanna do is smoke weed and make music.”The appeal doesn’t necessarily lie in originality of concept–but for the entirety of the two minutes, everything is just beautiful. Aside from the literal interpretation of brain champagne, the black-and-whites are so crisp, the slow motion and screen cuts so tasteful, the angles so right.
