DJ Vadim, a seminal producer in the abstract/experimental hip-hop realm and more generally a world music eclectic, will be headlining the Nectar tonight in a lineup dedicated toDJ 100Proof’s birthday. Vadim, who is hitting up Seattle as part of an extensive US/Europe tour, recently released U Can’t Lurn Imaginashun, whose first singles “Hidden Treasure” and “Soldier” delve into dub and reggae with highly impressive results. Besides Vadim and the birthday boy (who organizes those hush-hush Members Only monthly events at the Black Lodge and spins each Monday at Capitol Club’s Jet Set), DJ Swerveone, DJ Cide and Ohmega Watts will also be throwing down. And as you hopefully already know, Nectar is the best place to be on a warm night, particularly to catch such a worldly and accomplished musician for free.
