Cosmic Panther Land BandJust in case you were wondering, the KEXP BBQ isn’t the only free outdoor concert happening this weekend. On Friday afternoon (August 7) at 4 p.m., four local artists — Benjamin Doerr, Picoso, Grand Hallway and Cosmic Panther Land Band — will all make an appearance at the South Lake Union Block Party (on the lawn outside the South Lake Union Discovery Center), and it’s completely free. Grand Hallway’s an excellent band, but you’ll also want to stay for Cosmic Panther Land Band. They’ve only played one show so far, but Cosmic Panther Land Band’s members come from other local bands (the Maldives, the Moondoggies, the Pica Beats, Widower and Shim) which definitely makes them a group to watch. The block party starts at noon on Friday, but you can check out the other activities (such as a burger grilling competition) and complete music line-up on South Lake Union Block Party’s website.
