Black WhalesBlack Whales, one of Seattle’s most upwardly mobile bands, will release their first EP, Origins, through Mt. Fuji on September 15. The band’s next gig is Saturday, June 27 at Artopia in Georgetown, which is absolutely free;details on that at the Artopia website. Black Whales’ sound lies somewhere on the spectrum between the Moondoggies’ brand of folk and pop bands like Say Hi or Telekinesis. Go forth to MySpace and listen to “Young Blood,” a song from the upcoming EP that features Black Whales’ newest member, organist Mike Bayer.
