1. The Bacon and Beer Classic is coming to Safeco Field on May 17. The traveling festival visits baseball fields around the country, drawing thousands of attendees to sample craft beer and bacon-inspired bites from local restaurants. Adding to that already winning combination are performances from local bands and cooking demos.

2. TripAdvisor’s vacation rental company FlipKey.com released a list of Top Restaurants Worth Traveling For in 2014. Joule was chosen to represent Washington State.

3. Ballard’s SAVOUR has announced it is shuttering at the end of March, reports Eater. The specialty food shop and cafe opened four and a half years ago on Market Street. The last day of business is dependent on how quickly the shelves’ stock—which will be discounted 25 to 50 percent—sells out.

4. The European Union says it wants to ban the sale of U.S.-made cheese carrying European names, like feta, Parmesan, and Gorgonzola. They’re arguing that these American-made items pale in quality compared to the European originals and cut into sales and identity of European cheese. U.S. dairy producers are fighting the proposal, natch.
