1. Nine Washington breweries took home honors at this past week’s 2014 World Beer Cup. Among the local winners are Airways Brewing (Silver Medal for 3rd Anniversary in Belgian-Style Dark), Redhook Brewery (Gold Medal for Audible Ale in Classic English-Style Pale Ale), Elysian Brewing (Bronze Medal for The Wise ESB in Extra Special Bitter) and Stoup Brewing (Silver Medal for Stoup Porter in Robust Porter).

2. Capitol Hill’s Marination Station is turning three this year, and they’re planning a birthday bash in celebration. The party runs all day on April 28 and includes hula-hoop competitions, music, dancing, cheap beer, raffle prizes, and, as you’d expect, lots of food.

3. Hokkaido Ramen Santouka has announced it will be open for business on April 24 in Bellevue. The opening marks the first freestanding U.S. location for the restaurant, and this is just the beginning; 10 more stores are planned across the country in the near future.

4. Subway has landed a lawsuit after employees at a California store wrote “Big Mama” on a woman’s flatbread pizza box. As you’d expect, the woman is also vowing to never again eat at a Subway.
