1. Chaco Canyon, the organic cafe in the University District, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to open a new kitchen and bakery cafe in Greenwood. The cafe has raised more than $13,000 towards its eventual $25,000 goal, which comes with a July 19 deadline.

2. Chef Vuong Loc and wife Tricia are planning to open their restaurant, Pomerol, in Fremont in a few weeks, reports Seattle Met. Fare will be “French meets Northwest” and the restaurant will be equipped with a wood-fired grill.

3. Pro-$15 minimum wage group Working Washington showed up at Liberty Bar on Capitol Hill with banners and flyers, reported Capitol Hill Seattle. The group is targeting businesses like Liberty Bar that have been vocal supporters of rolling back the $15 minimum wage plan. Owner Andrew Friedman put out lemonade and iced tea for the protestors.

4. The Atlantic is exploring in a recent article whether craft distilling is growing too quickly – and quality is falling by the wayside. One reason is the shortage of experienced distillers, another the fact that some are selling liquor that isn’t quite ready as they struggle to meet growing demand.
