Well, PETA’s just announced its annual, much-awaited ranking of best stadiums in America for vegetarian sports fans. Guess what? Safeco came in fourth place! (Citizens’ Bank Park in Philadelphia came in first.) Note that in its press release, the animal-rights organization can’t help piling on the hate being leveled at the Mariners this year:By naming Safeco Field the most vegetarian-friendly American League park, PETA is happy to provide a bright spot in an otherwise dismal year for the Mariners. Safeco Field offers veggie dogs and burgers, a baked potato, vegetarian sushi, fruit salad, pasta with marinara sauce, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, edamame, veggie burritos, and a vegetarian taco salad.Aw, thanks. Two years ago, PETA named Seattle the second best city for vegetarians in America, last year a Seattleite made the finals of its “Sexiest Vegetarian ” contest, and now this honor. Perhaps there are some other vegetarian-friendly categories that Seattle would fare well in:Best airport food court for vegetariansBest City Hall coffee cart for vegetariansBest naked bike-riding festival for vegetariansBest tourist-oriented waterfront commercial strip for vegetariansBest library cookbook collection for vegetariansBest security-guarded private estate for vegetariansBest vegetarian for other vegetarians
